BASICS OF KNITTING — PART I

This two-hour course focuses on the basics; introducing the foundational skills needed to get started and prepared for future knitting adventures.
We will focus on fundamental techniques: casting on using the long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, and binding off. Along the way your instructor will share helpful tips on reading yarn labels, picking out yarn and needles for projects, the importance of gauge swatches, and how to read your gauge swatch.
Students will practice by making a swatch. Supplies will be provided.

ABOUT JENNIFER BROU
Jennifer Brou is an artist, designer, and educator based in South Portland, Maine.
She has 13-years of experience as a designer and developer in the footwear industry and
17- years of knitting experience. She currently teaches in the Foundation Program at Maine College of Art & Design.
Alongside teaching and designing knitwear, Jennifer mends knits for Misha & Puff, works in her studio, and loves running.
