Description

developed this pattern as part of my Fall 16 collection for Misha and Puff. It was a way to use up cone ends of yarn while simultaneously training new knitters who had been drawn to the work we were doing in Peru.

The mitered garter square is easy to learn, fun to knit, travels well, and is really satisfying! I promise this will become your go-to baby gift. We encourage you to try other size yarn, different patterning, and many
iterations— how about a scarf or a bigger blanket?!

I cannot wait to see how you make this pattern your own. It’s such a wonderful way to showcase special yarn and interesting color combinations.

The only skills to master: garter stitch, decreasing, and sewing it all together. You will also get lots of practice weaving in ends.

This pattern works with any yarn in any gauge but will yield a different size square in different yarns. We used our worsted weight merino yarn to achieve the scale of the squares in the images.

This pattern is great for using up odds and ends of yarn in your stash. Use six colors to achieve the look of our sample or more for a patchwork look.

  • Worsted (9 wpi)
  • 20 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in This pattern is not gauge sensitive
  • US 5 - 3.75 mm
  • 2500 - 3000 yards (2286 - 2743 m)
  • This pattern is designed as a blanket but is modular so it could also be a huge blanket or a scarf

INTRODUCING THE DENIM COLLECTION

Handcrafted in Japan by skilled artisans, we use the highest quality Japanese denim and time-honored techniques, upholding responsible manufacturing methods that honor both people and the environment. Each piece is meticulously crafted, undergoing nearly 100 steps to produce one garment.

All of our denim is 100% cotton, with thoughtful touches, like contrast topstitching, hand-tacked embroidery instead of rivets to optimize softness, and adjustable waistbands and straps for long-wear and the perfect fit.

Designed for comfort and made for long wear — this denim can be worn often, worn in, and passed down.

INFINITE VARIATIONS — THE MAGIC OF HAND-DYE

Our hand-dyed Superwash Merino wool is sustainably and ethically crafted by skilled artisans in Peru using premium natural fibers and low-impact dyes. This yarn is truly special, with each strand unique due to the hand-dye process, introducing subtle nuances to every garment. The hand-dyed variation and natural patterns the yarn creates when knit mean no two garments are the same, and that’s exactly why we love it. With this process, we embrace unpredictability and celebrate the presence of the hand.

For those reasons, we can’t guarantee that the Space Dye garment you receive will have a pattern close to those pictured, but it will truly be a one-of-a-kind heirloom.

    Inspiring

    Dear Anna,

I wanted to "Thank you" for starting this knitting project and welcoming us to your creative world. I happened to get the pattern for the blanket at the time that I needed a satisfying distraction in my life. It has been so inspiring and stimulating to learn and work on this project and its simplicity, yet complexity surprises me. I am already thinking of all possibilities with different color pallets for future projects. This has been such a lovely gift at a difficult time for me that connects me back to my grandmother and mother who were knitters and always had simple, clever, and complex projects on hand.

    With love,

    Helia

    Easy, beautiful blanket pattern

Love this blanket pattern. It’s coming together quickly, and I know I will be reusing it. Can’t wait to try it with different color and yarn combos. Now I’m just hoping M&P release an adult sweater pattern as well. Fingers crossed!
